Can-did Reviews

So every so often we get free movie passes here at the Eyeopener.  Most recently, a pass for The Other Boleyn Girl showed up with the mail.  I went to the movie and while I have my own thoughts about it, the post-movie bathroom discussion was much more interesting.

Here follow the thoughts of complete strangers of all ages and backgrounds while they waited in line and emptied their soda-filled bladders…

Waiting in line two women ahead of me were discussing how good The Other Boleyn Girl was.  As with most historical movies, the debate on the film’s accuracy was sparked.

While washing her hands, one woman budded in, “He (King Henry VIII) was married 18 years, on the throne and he has syphilis – he would not have looked like that! ”

One woman finishing up at the dryer countered that with, “Watch you’re getting your history lesson from her.”

That banter was broken by yet another woman who, while leaving the washroom felt it necessary to add, “I wouldn’t mind keeping being knocked up by that king.”

After the women left in the washroom bonded over a good chuckle, there was debate over how many wives King Henry had in total.  The final agreement was on 6.  Someone brought up the TV show the Tutors and the conversation faded into the drone of hand dryers.

So how did The Other Boleyn Girl fare?  Who knows but A++ to actor Eric Bana for being the sexiest King to make women’s heads roll.
